Gig-goers relax with riverside renditions at Warwick Castle picnic nights

Solihull Editorial 18th Sep, 2020   0

LIVE music and comedy events return to Warwick Castle this month, with picnics by the banks of the Avon to tempt visitors in.

The historic venue is hosting a series of gigs to watch (with hog roasts included) for audiences to enjoy in the warmth of the Indian summer.

Organisers have cracked socially distancing the audience, as visitors are seated in deckchairs beneath pergolas festooned with fairy-lights.

Drinks are served from a cutesy vintage caravan, and nature lovers can enjoy a glass whilst watching herons and owls swoop over the river.

A roster of comedy talent is set to perform in an arena beneath the castle walls – with the likes of Paul Sinha, Sindhu Vee and Phil Wang riffing in the medieval setting.

For those who like to relax with live music, promoters have pegged Scouting for Girls’ Roy Stride, guitarist Lucy Spraggan and the Hoosiers for performances.

Weekend afternoons are also set to feature acoustic renditions from Jessica Lee Morgan, daughter of Mary Hopkin and Tony Visconti, and the West End’s Les Miserable actor Damian Wilson.

With the funnyfolk of the comedy world sure to be a tonic in an uncertain year, Picnic at the Castle orgaisers also warn visitors to be prepared for a change in the weather – blankets and warm clothing are worth packing for a comfortable fun evening in a spectacular natural setting.
