Urgent care centre pops up in Chelmsley Wood this Easter weekend

BOROUGH residents will benefit from a pop-up Urgent Care Centre in Chelmsley Wood over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has funded the service to be run from Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre, Crabtree Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5BU.

The Urgent Care Centre will be open from 9am to 6pm on the following days:

  • Friday, March 25
  • Saturday, March 26
  • Sunday, March 27
  • Monday, March 28

This initiative is designed to complement the GP walk-in centre based on the Solihull Hospital site.

Dr Rachel Clowes of Lead GP, Bosworth Medical Centre, said: “The pop-up Urgent Care Centre will give our patients greater choice to access healthcare advice over the Easter holiday.

“The Easter break often sees a spike in accidents around the home and garden caused by a combination of the long Bank Holiday weekend, school holidays, longer days and (hopefully) improving weather.

“I would also like to remind people that A&E is for serious and life-threatening emergencies. Check when your GP practices and pharmacy is open over the Easter period, and remember you can get clinical advice available through NHS 111 which is a 24-hour, free helpline.”

Don’t forget to make sure you have enough of your usual prescription medicines.

Make sure you stock up on over-the-counter remedies and First Aid items from your local pharmacy. And that you know which services are available even if your GP surgery is shut.
