A RESIDENT at a Solihull care home celebrated her 105th birthday, attributing her long life to ‘hard work’.
Gwen Newey , celebrated her birthday at Chelmunds Court care home in Chelmsley Wood.
She was surrounded by four generations of her family, her daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and great-great-granddaughter.
Gwen received a birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla, and her daughter Margaret Warr said the whole family were excited to open it.
Margaret said her mum dedicated herself to work and only retired aged 72.
“She worked at badge company Brighton Tucker and has always been a wonderful mother and grandmother.
“There were five generations of the family at her party, it was a lovely day for us all.”
Margaret said the care home have been so supportive.
“They’ve been wonderful with my mum, the care she receives is excellent and we couldn’t wish for a better place for her to live.”
