Solihull Community Housing contractors donate shopping vouchers to foodbank

SOLIHULL Community Housing (SCH) – Solihull Council’s housing provider – and Dodd Group Midlands visited a Solihull charity social supermarket recently to donate £1,000 in shopping vouchers to help the local community.

Dodd Group choose a Charity of the Year every year and this year they have decided to support foodbanks.

The first Solihull-based foodbank to receive the generous £1,000 donation was Colebridge Trust’s Around Again Social Supermarket in Chelmsley Wood.

Head of retrofit and building services at Dodd Group, Daniel Camp, said: “Having spoken to the team at Around Again, they told us donations of food normally increase leading up to Christmas, but then suffer in the New Year as people tighten their belts.

“As such, the vouchers allow the charity to purchase food and personal hygiene items as they require them.

“We will continue to make donations, support collections, and offer advice and support to this wonderful organisation throughout the year.”

SCH chief executive, Fiona Hughes added: “We are delighted to work closely with our contractors Dodd Group.

“It is wonderful to hear of such a generous donation being made to a local foodbank here in Solihull. I hope this support will help our vulnerable residents during the current cost of living crisis.”
