Solihull care home staff's six-mile sumo suit walk raises £700 for the residents' entertainment fund

STAFF at Claridge Place care home in Olton took part in a sponsored walk in Sumo suits on Tuesday to raise cash for the residents’ entertainment fund.

The tenacious team of three employees walked to Solihull town centre and back – some six miles in total – for the cause.

Among them were co-ordinator Tracey, Angie from housekeeping and Jane from the carers.

So far the fund is up to £700 with more coming in.

Carer Vivien Lauder said: “It was brilliant – they all had a great time and it has raised some much-needed funding for entertainment for the residents.

“We wanted to raise money for our beautiful residents to make the next few months truly wonderful for them as they really deserve it.

“I want to say a big thank you to the staff members who took part and everyone who donated to the cause.”
