Police sergeant charged with child sex offences of grooming girl, 13

A West Midlands Police officer has been charged with grooming offences relating to young teenage girl.

Stephen Shaw, aged 46, was arrested from his home address on Thursday (August 22) and was last night charged with two offences.

A West Midlands Police statement reads: “He has been charged with attempting to cause/incite a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity on 12 August 2019 and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child between 18 and 22 August 2019.

“The officer, who is a sergeant based in Coventry, has been remanded in custody and will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Friday August 23).




“A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct by West Midlands Police.”
