THE BRAND new medals that runners will receive for completing the Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run course have been revealed.
The run includes a 5k, 10k and Families on Track relay race, where kids, teenagers, parents, grandparents and friends run 10 kilometres in a continuous relay, in whichever order or combination they decide on.
People taking part in the 5k race, will receive a blue ribboned wooden medal, those taking part in the 10k will receive an orange medal, with the Families on Track medal sporting a green ribbon.
Marie and Abi, Ambassadors for the Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run were some of the first people to see the medals.
Marie said: “The medals look fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to seeing people collecting them on 23 June, it should be a really great day and one to remember for Wythall. “Running is a great way to add in fitness to your life, and keep yourself independent for longer, it really does help to add years on to your life.
“It’s a great opportunity to create time for yourself, and I find it really clearing for my mind.
Marie currently runs Happy Feet Fitness, a family run business which encourages people to start running.
She is also a breast cancer survivor, who found running benefitted her recovery and now devotes a lot of her time looking after her five grandchildren, as well as keeping local people moving in her local running group.
Lisa McNally, Director of Public Health in Worcestershire, said: “Running is great for me personally, and I have found it really benefits both my physical and mental health.
“I’m also an avid collector of running medals, they give me something to keep to remind me of the sense of achievement I feel after finishing a run.
“It’s a great motivator on rainy days when I don’t feel like getting my running shoes on! I’m looking forward to adding the wooden Wythall and Hollywood medal to my collection.”
There are just over 50 days until runners will be lining up on the start line, as the run returns to North Worcestershire on Sunday 23 June.
