FORMER Solihull MP Lorely Burt has been handed a lifetime peerage.
Baroness Burt of Solihull will be the 60-year-old’s title – reflecting her pasion for Solihull and its people.
Speaking to Observer editor Chris Willmott after the news broke, Baroness Burt said she was delighted and honoured to have been entered into the House of Lords.
“It is a real honour for me and I’m glad I can still represent the people, businesses and interests of the borough and wider region I have been so involved with for the last decade,” she said.
“I was asked what I wanted my title to be, as in Baroness Burt of where, and there was only one answer – Baroness Burt of Solihull.”
