SOLIHULL radio presenter Jas Rohel leapt out of an aeroplane recenlty in a tandem skydive in aid of local older people’s charity, Age UK Solihull.

Jas, who presents weekly educational and business programmes on Solihull Radio was one of two local people who made the leap for the worthy charity.

“When I was asked to support Age UK Solihull, I ‘jumped’ at the chance to help,” said Jas.

“I literally didn’t think the jump was going to be so big and out of a plane.

“The work that Age UK Solihull do for the older people in our local community is invaluable and a much-needed support to our older community.”

Thanks to her supporters, Jas has raised £1,762 and with gift aid added, this takes the total to a whopping £2,093.

Also jumping on the same day and raising money, but at a different airfield, was Solihull Council employee, Ian Lewis.

Age UK Solihull supports older people with the challenges they face in later life, providing information and advice, companionship and practical help to those in need.

Lorraine Hart, fundraising manager at the charity said: “Jas and Ian did an amazingly brave feat in skydiving out of a plane and thank you to all their friends and family for helping them raise such a fantastic sum.”

The charity is always looking for gutsy individuals to have a go in a tandem skydive.
