A HOLIDAY-MAKER who was locked in Boots at Birmingham Airport almost missed her flight to Greece.

The woman, believed to be Dutch, had been doing a last-minute dash around the store when she found herself barricaded by steel shutters.

The untimely incident happened at 9.30pm on Saturday after the store closed for business – less than an hour before she was due to board the flight to Greece.

Airport security came to her rescue after she managed to grab the attention of a fellow passenger.

The fellow passenger alerted a member of staff at Costa to get help.

The un-named man, from Solihull, said it took a while for the security to release the woman and as a result didn’t leave her a lot of time to board the flight.

A spokesperson for Boots said: ““We take security in our stores seriously, and we were concerned to hear about this incident. “We’ve been in touch with the customer to offer our apologies and we’re currently investigating how this happened.”

Birmingham Airport has confirmed it is liaising with Boots to understand the facts.
