RESIDENTS businesses and developers are being asked to have their say on the new draft Public Open Space Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
The plan sets out clearly defined parameters around public open space contribution requirements for future developments.
This document builds upon Policy P20 Provision for Open Space, Children’s Play, Sport, Recreation and Leisure of the 2013 Solihull Local Plan.
It is intended to give greater clarity to the public and planning applicants on what is expected in terms of open space provision.
This consultation is an opportunity to help shape the document before a final version is presented to the cabinet member for consideration.
Councillor Andy Mackiewicz, cabinet member for Climate Change and Planning, said: “In Solihull, we are really proud of our high-quality green open space, and as new developments come forward it is essential that we are able to maintain the borough’s unique character.
“With this new draft document, we want to make sure any new residential or commercial developments contribute towards public access to green open space, with the existing and future needs of the community in mind.
“I encourage everyone to read the draft plan and use this consultation to help make sure we get this right.”
