General Election 2017: Meet the candidates Andrew Garcarz

Solihull Editorial 25th May, 2017   0

Name: Andrew Garcarz

Age: 60

Political Party: UK Independence Party

In 50 words why should the people of Solihull vote for you?

If you choose me I will:

Be your voice in Westminster

Fight for referenda on local issues

Fight to improve Solihull Hospital

Be your voice on local developments

Fight for free hospital car parking

Oppose HS2

Cut foreign aid budgets

And spend more on Adult Social Care and the NHS

In 50 words what do you believe is the key issue in the borough you will fight for?

My number one priority will be to campaign tirelessly to stop the cuts and seek improvements in services provided at Solihull Hospital.

Solihull is a growing town but our healthcare services are not keeping pace; I will fight for improvements in Healthcare and Adult Social Care provision in the area.

How would you do that and how would you find the money?

I will sit down with the Board and Executives of HEFT and make the case for increased healthcare provision in Solihull. I will look at how additional funding can be channelled into the service through the introduction of efficiency savings, getting best value for procurements and using money released from our EU contributions and reduction in overseas aid, to provide additional NHS services and frontline support

Brexit negotiations are a key issue for many voters – in 100 words, give us your views on it:

Brexit is the opportunity for the UK to regain its place as a major world force. For forty years we have been shackled to a failing economic and political union. A protectionist Union that prevents free-trade with the rest of the world and is designed to protect French and Spanish farmers and German manufacturers.

Free from EU restrictions we can set up deals with emerging and expanding markets in South Africa, South America, the Far East and the Oceanic region. Countries that share a common language and legal system are queuing up to put trade deals in place with us.

What are your views on the state of the healthcare in the borough and what would you do to change it if you believe it needs changing?

Solihull Hospital has suffered because of the centralisation, specialisation and rationalisation of services introduced by HEFT in a bid to save money and reduce massive debts caused by weak and ineffective management.

Solihull Hospital should be able to offer a full range of services from essential Accident & Emergency, Maternity, Pre-and Post Natal, Cardio-Vascular and orthopaedic services on a 24 hour 7 days a week basis.
