Former Birmingham City player launches new property business to help investors avoid own goals

FORMER Birmingham City star Mat Sadler has launched a property business aiming to help investors avoid own goals.

The 31-year-old, who lives near Solihull and now plays for Shrewsbury, has co-founded property investment company Sadler & Partridge.

With business partner Paul Partridge the company is designed to be a one-stop shop for investors and their buy-to-let needs.

Mr Sadler, who also played for Walsall and Watford, said: “As a footballer you get approached by so many investment companies and the majority seem to offer very little transparency.




“That gives the property industry a bad name which, a lot of the time, it doesn’t deserve.

“The whole idea of Sadler & Partridge is that we want to help as many people as possible take financial control by investing in property.


“It can be daunting and it’s a huge thing to do but we treat each investment as our own and take so much care to make sure everything is clear and comfortable.”

The specialist business sources and handles the purchase of properties through developers and auction houses.

It already has 41 apartments in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for sale and offers a construction arm which can oversee and manage any refurbishments for rental properties.

Sadler & Partridge also offers mortgage and protection insurance services and a specialist scheme for high net worth and sportspersons’ insurance needs.

Director Paul Partridge added: “We already have 16 property experts working throughout the UK from as far as Cornwall, right up to the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland.

“We’re confident we will double this within the first half of 2017 and it’s our genuine goal to be one of the UK’s Leading Property Investment Companies.”

Mat Sadler Q&A:

Q: What sets you apart in the Property Investment World and why should Investors choose Sadler & Partridge?

A: The business has been setup as a one stop shop for investors with the main focus being on trust and transparency. I have seen so many companies come and go, so many schemes that often look too good to be true and very often are just that, people selling

a dream – therefore I wanted to set something up at the opposite end of that spectrum. It is my aim to be able to offer good, sound, honest advice and to help people take financial control for their future.

Q: What is the driving force in your mindset to want you to offer this guidance and what is the end goal?

A: I have been fortunate during my playing career to have had a ‘business mind’ and invested in property from a young age building up a portfolio to take into retirement. With the changes to the PFA Pension and the fact for players currently under 28 it will not kick

in until 55, it is more essential than ever now for footballers to focus their minds from an early age for their futures!

Q: How have the changes to the PFA Pension helped with making your decision to setup this new Venture?

A: The business is not just aimed at footballers, we are already helping a wide range of Sporting People with Property Investment, Mortgages and their Personal Insurances. In terms of the changes to the PFA Pension this has provided me even more focus in this

field to educate as many young players as possible. It really is a short career and for players fortunate to get to 35 they will have a 20 year income void they need to fill.

Q: What experience do the individuals in the company have when it comes to Property Investment, Mortgages,

Insurances and Construction?

A: The reason I decided to start the company with Paul was due to the vast and wide ranging experiences he has in both the property industry and the insurance service industry also. Paul runs a successful estate and letting agents within the West Midlands area, with contacts nationwide, but most importantly in my mind, is the fact that he has built his business on the same

principles of honesty and trust as we intend to bring to this new venture.

The Mortgage and Financial Advisors are individuals I would use myself both for the way they go about their business but also the fact they do not over complicate this area. Our construction arm is something that we are very excited to push both on the

Buy to Let Refurbishments but also our high end side which can do anything from a new bathroom to a full blown

house build, the team we have are true experts in this area.

Q: You mentioned about the insurance arm to the business, can you tell us slightly more about this?

A: I have always personally found this to be an area that many Insurers/Brokers may take advantage of the position that many sportspeople are in, both financially and also the fact that they want things done fast and do not necessarily have the time to shop

around.

As my Business Partner has a strong background in the insurance field it felt a good idea to develop this from a genuine frustration to providing a solution, therefore we can help people with anything from their car insurances, houses, travel to business insurance.

Q: What are the costs for investors to get involved with having you as their Trusted Advisors, many of the Property Investment Companies for example we know of charge anything from £3,000+ just to source a property?

A: I am a big believer in adding value but also wanting a product/service at a competitive price. Not only do I believe that our clients will receive a service that is far ahead of our competitors but we will be offering a very competitive price, in fact saving Investors at least two thirds of the price you mentioned which I do personally feel is slightly high, but does seem to be the minimum going rate!

Q: What are the on-going services that an Investor will receive from Sadler & Partridge and will you personally be ‘hands on’

within the day to day running of the business?

A: I would like our Investors to be able to pick the phone up to me, e-mail or even get social with us on the likes of Twitter for any Property related query they may have.

We have a substantial team of property experts throughout the UK so we are confident we can offer our full services throughout the Country.

I am personally very hands on with all aspects of the business which I am finding very enjoyable, a new challenge from playing Professional Sport but as I have dealt in property investment for over 10 years it is not a field that phases me.
