WILLIAM Bezzant never dreamt writing an adventure story ‘Soup-A-Man’ would bag him top seats to see the smash hit musical ‘Wicked’ at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre.
The creative Solihull ten year-old penned the tale of hero Soup-a Man who out wits his villainous counterpart by throwing hot soup at him as part of the Wicked Young Writers’ Award Competition run in association with the Library of Birmingham.
Selected from hundreds of entries in the 7 to11 age category William’s top story impressed the judges enough for him to claim the winning prize.
As an avid ‘Wicked’ fan William got to take mum, Julie, to see the show, enjoy a backstage tour and meet the cast.
Williams said: “It was wicked! We saw the costumes and met the company who told us about the show. I love all the songs and know them really well; it was brilliant to see the whole thing in performance.”
