HUNDREDS of people attended the special Remembrance Day parade and Service at St Alphege Church and the minute’s silence at the Cenotaph.
Support for Remembrance Day has never wained, but the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have created a new generation of veterans to turn out in support of.
Some have returned home safely, others with life-changing injuries and others have tragically not returned home at all.
Every year the people of Solihull and the surrounding region do these heroes proud by lining the streets of town, cities and villages, attending church services, laying wreaths and wearing their poppies with pride to help raise millions of pounds to look after veterans and their families.
Once again the people of Solihull have shown tremendous support for the Poppy Appeal, with Solihull Royal British Legion Chairman Dave Mouzer predicting another bumper fund-raising year – and possibly another record-breaking year.
