LOYAL RESIDENTS dusted off their medals, set their march and raised a glass to celebrate the centenary of The Royal Star and Garter Homes on Friday (June 17).

MP Julian Knight joined in on the celebrations and had the pleasure of hearing the captivating stories shared by the veterans – including memories of the Second World War.

He said: ““I am very pleased to have had this great opportunity to meet the residents and staff of the Royal Star and Garter and to share in their centenary celebrations.

“I would also like to praise the devotion and commitment of all staff members and volunteers.”

The home for ex-servicemen and women has a number of upcoming events to mark the milestone anniversary – including a 1940s Summer Ball and a Centenary Challenge.
