A HELICOPTER took the skies above Solihull as police investigated reports of a man brandishing a weapon.

Officers from Solihull Police, West Midlands Police’s specialist firearms unit and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in Birmingham were called to reports of a disturbance and a man possibly brandishing a weapon on Wharf Lane at around 9.15am on Wednesday, July 27.

Officers attended the location to carry out enquiries and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of assault and drink driving.

No weapons were found.

Residents took to social media for answers – Twitter user @remydas asking ‘Can someone please explain to me why there’s a helicopter doing rounds in #Solihull’.
