THE CHURCH of Ascension in Hall Green is hosting its annual Rise and Shine community open day this Saturday (May 7).

Starting at 12pm, the event will welcome people of all ages with a variety of activities, including karate, lunch club and folk dancing, taking place in the church’s two community halls.

Throughout the afternoon there will be a chance to join in with the Mother’s Union Craft Workshop and an art exhibition hosted by Hall Green Arts Society.

A bouncy castle, craft activities, story telling and a visit from the fire engine will also be present.

Rev. Paul Leckey, said: “The aim of the open day is to let the community know about everything that is on offer across the whole site and getting their views about what they would like to see the halls used for in the future.

“The Church and its halls are a fantastic resource for the local community and we want to see them used to their full potential to meet the needs of our local community.

“I hope that people will enjoy finding out about the different things already on offer and will be inspired to give something new a try or perhaps start a new activity of their own.”
