GIRLS BASKETBALL in Solihull is set to benefit from an added boost after the Basketball Foundation awarded Birmingham Basketball Club offered its project hub initiative.
With the aim to increase participation in girls basketball, the club are looking to include a girls and ladies session in the initiative – which offers playing, training and mini-tournament opportunities.
City of Birmingham’s communications boss, Sunny Gill, said: “Basketball is fun, dynamic and really on the up – hence this initiative which is led by Sport England.
“With the Olympics coming up this year, we’re determined that the London 2012 legacy does not just become an empty promise, but the start of something special for those willing to get out and give it a try.
“Our under 16 girls team did us proud in the National League last year.
“Through their dedication, they have created memories that will stay with them forever.
“We want girls in Solihull, of all ages, to come forward as we know that they can reach those levels too.”
