SAMBA music and carnival fever is set to make its way to the borough this summer as Touchwood is set to have a taste of Rio De Janerio at this year’s beach.

Running throughout the summer, the free beach will transport guests to the sunny shores of Copacabana, where they will be able to experience an authentic taste of Rio De Janeiro with golden sand, palm trees, deck chairs to sit back and relax in, as well as buckets and spades to keep the kids entertained, and plenty of carnival inspired fun and activities.

There will be Brazilian carnival costumes, samba music, dance and drumming workshops for all to enjoy, and plenty more to get everyone in the party spirit.

There will be an exclusive beach party on Saturday July 9 from 11am to 4pm there will be a children’s fash-mob showcasing the latest summer trends, restaurant sampling and characters appearances, as well as the latest must-have toys and gadgets with outdoor games.

Plus, this year the opening hours of the beach will be extended into the evenings from 6pm to 8pm with a packed schedule of entertainment, including free BBQ food on Friday July 15 and live jazz music from the Bobby Woods Quartet, plus a second performance from the Masai Blues on Saturday July 16.

If that wasn’t enough, to mark the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics on Saturday August 9 guests will be able to embrace the Brazilian beats and really get into the carnival spirit by taking part in a traditional samba drumming workshop, along with appearances from Touchwood’s very own tropical birds.

Lucy Burnett, Marketing Manager at Touchwood, said: “Touchwood’s touch of Rio will be the perfect way for guests to celebrate the Olympics, and at the same time take advantage of enjoying a summer holiday experience without having to travel very far.

“The beach will be even bigger and better this summer, so we encourage everyone to join in the free fun, grab their sunnies and sun cream and come along to enjoy the summer in style.

“Plus on Friday, July 15, guests can enjoy a free burger by the beach on us with our summer BBQ.”
