TRANSFER - Moors sign target man Beck from Darlington

Solihull Editorial 26th Jan, 2023   0

SOLIHULL Moors have announced the signing of the National League North’s top goalscorer this season Mark Beck from Darlington.

The 28-year-old joins on a two-and-a-half year deal and has scored 15 league goals this season with a further three in the FA Cup.

And the 6ft 5in striker has previously played for the likes of Carlisle United, Yeovil Town and Harrogate Town in the Football League.

Beck said: “I think I am [in the best form of my career], I’ve got 18 so far this season but I’m now here for two-and-a-half years so hopefully that can continue.

“I’m very excited to be here, having spoken to the gaffer, I know Cal [Howe] too, and now seeing the facilities we’ve got, I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I’m a big man but I’m good with my feet as well, I can bring others into play. Hopefully the lads will be buzzing around me and can grab some more goals and assists.

“Seeing the squad here, there’s no reason why we can’t kick-on and get into them play-offs, anything can then happen once we’re in there. I can’t wait to get going.”

Moors boss Neal Ardley added: “Mark is a player I’ve known a long time, I lost a play-off final against his Harrogate side whilst I was at Notts, so I know exactly what he’s about and the damage he can cause teams.

“I always think target men don’t really come into their own until they’re 25/26, and his goalscoring record for a target man is very, very good.

“He’s technically very good and aerially he’s brilliant, he knows where to be in the box and we’re a team who like to get plenty of crosses in.

“I really think he’ll be a big signing for us.”
