ENGINE issues brought an early end to Harrison Morrow’s international Formula Ford debut at the prestigious Marcel Albers Memorial Trophy.
Morrow headed to Zandvoort in the Netherlands to take part in the prestigious event and showed front-running pace.
However, an engine issue ended his race after just four laps following a difficult qualifying session.
The Solihull driver joined five-time event winner John Svensson’s JRT team for race.
And the teenager showed his potential behind the wheel to lap within half a second of Svensson.
Morrow battled alongside eventual winner Svensson and runner-up Richard Freye before engine issues put pay to his weekend.
Morrow said: “It’s obviously frustrating that the weekend ended so early, especially after all the preparation that went into it.
“But to be racing with drivers like John and Richard on a circuit I’d never seen before has given me a huge amount of confidence.
“I’ve learned a lot from the experience, and I’d love the opportunity to come back.”
Harrison’s father, Richard, added: “We were naturally disappointed with the result, but incredibly proud of the way Harrison adapted.
“Zandvoort is one of Europe’s iconic Formula Ford circuits and to see him immediately competing with such experienced drivers showed exactly why we wanted to take on the challenge.
“Motorsport can be cruel at times, but the experience, friendships and knowledge we brought home were invaluable.”
Harrison thanked Svensson and the JRT team for the opportunity to race at the event.
He also thanked long-time mentor Alan Bowles and supporters Geoff Page and Mike Godfrey, who travelled to support the team throughout the weekend.
