SOLIHULL Moors midfielder Ryan Barnett has joined National League rivals Wrexham on a permanent transfer having turned down the offer a new deal at the ARMCO Arena.

Barnett impressed for Moors last term as Solihull were beaten in the Promotion Final by Grimsby Town at West Ham United’s London Stadium.

However, with his contract up in the summer, Moors have opted to cash in on the winger after Barnett declined a new deal to stay with Solihull.

Moors boss Neal Ardley said: “He’s a player we would love to keep, but his contract was up in the summer and Wrexham have come in for him with a chance to be part of a different story.

“You’ve got to balance it up as a club, to try and keep our best players, but also not stand in the way if an opportunity comes.

“We’re obviously disappointed to lose such a good player, he’s been fantastic for us. We can only thank Barney for his service and wish him all the best.”

The 23-year-old wideman made 80 appearances for Moors and scored six goals and has featured in every league game for Solihull this season.
