TENNIS - Shirley-based club win Warwickshire senior mixed classic final

DAVID Lloyd Solihull Cranmore won the Warwickshire Tennis senior mixed classic final with victory against Four Oaks.

The Shirley-based club triumphed 4-0 in the final at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham.

A dominant display saw the club claim victories in the men’s and ladies matches along with the mixed doubles in the over-40s competition.

In the men’s doubles, James Knight (Dickens Heath)/John Watson (Knowle) won 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets.

And Sarah Pass (Tidbury Green)/Kate Edgworth (Solihull) won 6-2, 6-4 in the ladies doubles.

Knight/Pass then won the mixed doubles 6-4, 6-2 while Edgworth/Watson triumphed 6-2, 6-1 to claim a clean sweep of victories.

Warwickshire Lawn Tennis Association committee member, Phil King, presented the winning players with the trophy and prizes.

The Shirley club beat Blossomfield A in the semi-finals while group matches began back in February.
