Solihull Moors continuing to build for the future

FOOTBALL: SOLIHULL Moors are continuing to build for the future after it was revealed this week that The Automated Technology Group Stadium has been granted ‘Grade A’ by The FA Ground Grading Technical Panel.

The confirmation – following a series of recent inspections – gives the club the green light to continue its ambition to remain competitive in the Vanarama National League.

Upgrading work around the Damson Parkway base will see capacity rise to 4,313 and the new grading marks another chapter of the most significant season in the club’s history.

The success of Solihull’s debut season in the Vanarama National League is evidence of everybody pulling together against the odds.

With just four games of the season remaining, Liam McDonald has helped to ensure that The Moors are still in sight of achieving their number one priority of survival from the club’s first season in the top tier of non-league football.

McDonald has also proactively worked with the Board to help implement a realistic and sustainable playing budget that will allow the club to continue to prosper under his stewardship beyond this campaign.

However, as the recent run of results and the impact of injuries on a part-time squad have proven, there’s still plenty of work to be done to finish the 2016/17 campaign on a high.

From SMSA’s ‘Stand up for The Moors’ campaign, the overwhelming attendance at the community team’s #Big Celebration day, the first-team promotion of academy graduates such as Callum Coyle to the talented duo of Oladapo Afolayan and Simeon Maye signing new deals, the future is bright for this football club.

“It was good to hear this week that the Automated Technology Group Stadium has been granted ‘Grade A’ by The FA Ground Grading Technical Panel,” said McDonald.

“This essential upgrade of our ground status will, if our plans come together, give us a good foundation next season .The finances of the club of necessity had to be re-prioritised to secure all of this but I am proud of what our young squad has achieved as a result.”
