Shergill swaps Elland Road for Solihull

A PROMISING capture has been made by Solihull Moors this afternoon after the acquisition of Leeds United left-back Joshveer Shergill.

The 18-year-old, formerly of West Bromwich Albion and Walsall, has signed a one-year deal at the SportNation.bet Stadium and moves on from Elland Road where he bolstered his development in the under-18 and under-23 ranks at the Yorkshire club.

And while Shergill admits that he will be hard-pressed to break into Jimmy Shan’s starting XI – a coach he has previously worked with – he is confident of making the next step up in his career at National League level.

“The goal is to play as many games as I can, I know it’s going to be tough but that’s the aim,” he said.

“It’s an excellent club, the training facilities are on par with some of the clubs I’ve been at previously – so it’s good to be here.

“I was at West Brom with Jimmy and he’s a top coach, so I can learn a lot from him.”

Shan delivered a positive assessment of his new player, who can play anywhere down the left-hand side, describing him as “quick, dynamic and technically very good”.

“He’s a young player whom we hope will develop well over the next two seasons,” he added.
