OLD Silhillians under-23s beat a scratch Birmingham and Solihull Bees side 52-0 to lift the Wedgbury Cup.

The club’s agreed to reinstate the annual Boxing Day fixture for the first time since 2007.

First team player Harry Jones captained Old Solihillians while the Bees XV featured current Solihull players along with guests from Redditch, Pershore and Stratford.

Strengthened by the return of 13 university players, Old Silhillians proved too strong for Solihull’s scratch side to take a commanding 33-0 lead at the break.

The Bees ended the game with just 12 players due to a number of injuries as Old Silhillians eventually sealed a 52-0 success on home turf.

Old Silhillians hope to defend the trophy at Birmingham and Solihull’s Portway ground in 2025.
