BIRMINGHAM and Solihull Bees secured a try bonus point in a 52-22 defeat away at high-flying Broadstreet II.
A pair of tries from Will Heath and further scores from Cole Elleman and Ryan Sleaford ensured Bees came away from the Ivor Preece Field with a bonus point in a losing effort.
And the result means Birmingham and Solihull sit eighth in the Counties 2 Midlands West (East) table.
The Bees took to the field with a depleted side once again due to injury and unavailability.
And the home side scored the game’s first try after just six minutes to take an early lead.
However, Solihull responded when Elleman finished off a superb team move with Heath unable to add the extras.
Broadstreet crossed for a second converted try on 12 minutes only for Heath to touch down and convert his own try as the visitors reduced the deficit back to two points.
And the Bees took the lead for the first time when Sleaford received Heath’s pass and dotted down with the latter converting the score.
However, Bees lost Stephan Fourie to a yellow card on the half-hour mark and Broadstreet made the most of the extra man to score three further tries before the break.
Bees responded at the start of the second period when Heath crashed over to score his second try of the game.
The home side struck twice more to take the game out of Solihull’s reach before Diaba Dee received a yellow card and Broadstreet crossed for the final try of the match.
Birmingham and Solihull Bees are next in action against Coventry Welsh on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Portway.
