RUGBY UNION - Birmingham and Solihull aiming for league and cup double

Solihull Editorial 8th Apr, 2022   0

BIRMINGHAM and Solihull RFC have secured the league title with two matches left to play as they now aim to win the North Midlands Vase.

The Bees reentered the RFU pyramid during the 2020/21 season and only played their first competitive game in September last year.

And the Solihull club wrapped up the Midlands 5 West (South) title with two matches left to play after an emphatic 118-0 victory against Redditch RFC last weekend.

The Bees are led by Head of Senior Rugby ‘Lou’ Lupoli and Head Coach Clive Chapman and play at Portway Stadium.

And the win against Redditch was Birmingham’s 19th from 20 league matches, having claimed 13 try-bonus points and scored 729 points at an average of 36.45 per game.

The Bees remain on course for a league and cup double with a semi-final clash against Chaddesley Corbett RFC, who play in the Midlands 4 West (South) division, in the North Midlands Vase to take place on Saturday, April 16.

The club is still on the look out for new players so the Bees can put out two teams on a regular basis next season.

Birmingham and Solihull host St Leonards on Saturday, April 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Portway.
