OLTON & West Warwickshire Ladies ended their Conference West campaign on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Oxford Hawks.
Sally Walton scored her 32nd goal of the season to give Olton three points and keep them in mid-table.
Victory followed Saturday’s 4-2 home defeat to Stourport.
Olton took the lead after six minutes through Walton but the visitors drew level 12 minutes later from a penalty corner.
Two minutes into the second half Stourport went ahead from open play and then made it 3-1 from a penalty corner seven minutes later.
Moments later Olton reduced the arrears with a penalty stroke from Walton but any chance of salvaging a draw was ended when Stourport squeezed home a fourth late on.
Meanwhile, Olton’s men’s team finished the Conference West season with a 3-3 draw at West Cardiff & Met.
The visitors found themselves 2-0 down early on but Tom Wadsworth reduced the arrears after 14 minutes before Olton drew level in the 44th minute through Ollie War.
Cardiff then regained the lead six minutes later, but with the last touch of the game Harry Sherlock salvaged a point for Olton.
The stalemate followed Saturday’s 7-3 home victory over Isca.
Once again Olton found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening 12 minutes.
The double blow proved to be a wake-up call as Steve Batten pulled one back from a penalty corner three minutes later.
Despite not being at their best, Olton drew level in the 32nd minute through Tom Mallett.
The turnaround was complete three minutes later when Chris Rawlings netted to give Olton a slender 3-2 half-time lead.
Isca fought back and drew level in the 39th minute from a penalty corner but five minutes later Dan Sulway nosed Olton back in front.
Three goals from in 11 minutes from Martin Ebbage, Rawlings and Mallett then fired Olton into an unassailable 7-3 lead.
