MOSELEY moved a step closer to securing their Birmingham League Premier Division status for a further year with 55-run victory over Barnt Green, courtesy of the Duckworth Lewis system.
The Griffs won the toss and elected to bat, with a second wicket partnership of 91 between Rob Yates and Bhavik Patel as well as 94-run stand between Alex Thomson and Kishen Patel the highlights of the host’s innings.
They then collapsed from 207-5 to 218 all out with Green’s Zain Ul-Hassan (5-32) and Sutton (3-37) ripping through the Moseley tail.
In reply Green were given a flying start as Moseley conceded 28 extras inside the first eight overs before the introduction of Thomson stemmed the flow.
Thomson put on a man-of-the-match performance as he claimed the wickets of his Warwickshire colleagues Ed Pollock and Matt Lamb in quick succession in a spell of three wickets at the cost of just eight runs.
With Usman Awan (2-14) also stemming the flow of runs, Green struggled to 114-7 off 26 overs before rain brought the game to a premature end to give Moseley victory.
Moseley make the trip to Knowle & Dorridge on Saturday.
