Morrow secures second to sign off Shenington IKR Sprint Series

Solihull Editorial 4th Nov, 2019   0

HARRISON Morrow finished second overall after bringing the curtain down on his Shenington IKR Sprint Series campaign in the eighth and final round on Sunday.

The Solihull racer and his team Total Trouble Racing opted against Saturday practice with conditions unfavourable, with full focus on race day.

Morrow qualified in fourth to begin Sunday on a high, backing up the early signs of promise with a third-place finish in a confident opening heat.

He suffered a set-back in heat two when being ill-equipped for the drier conditions and having too much grip on his tyres.

As a result, Morrow fell back to fifth, but quickly made amends by racing to third with the fastest lap in heat three.

Gearing up for the final race, Harrison started in fourth but was made to dig deep to recover from a slow start.

From there, he overtook two karts on one corner to jump to third and chase down the leading pair.

He kept within touching distance of the top two after a brief lull and then capitalised on a mistake on the last corner to take second place.

It was a fitting way to finish the championship, finishing in second behind leader and overall winner Milo Manderson.

Morrow and his team have testing booked prior to the final round of the Whilton Mill Kart Racing Championship on the weekend of November 23 and 24.
