HARRISON Morrow celebrated a podium place at the seventh round of the Shenington IKR Sprint Series, missing out on second by the finest of margins.
Starting his weekend with a positive day of practice on Saturday, boosted by the dry conditions on race day, Morrow was in line for a good showing on his return to the Oxfordshire track.
Qualifying in fourth place, the Honda Cadet driver took great confidence into the opening heat and continued to build momentum, timing an attack on the last corner of the final lap to perfection to finish second.
He started in second place for the second heat and found great pace, putting himself in contention for the top three places again but this time having to settle for third after an aggressive drive.
Morrow followed up with another finish of third in the third heat after a race-long battle with Leo Robinson, giving him further incentive to place in the top two in the final.
Another tight race was in store, with half a second separating the top five drivers in lap times at one stage.
The Solihull karter initially dropped to fifth but roared back in some style, crossing the line in third by just 0.02 seconds.
A review was necessary before confirming Morrow’s final position of third and allowing him to take to the podium, with the weekend’s result cementing his position of second overall in the championship.
