ICE HOCKEY - Vixens still unbeaten after win against Queen Bees

SOLIHULL Vixens are now the only unbeaten team left in the Women’s National Ice Hockey Elite League after a 4-2 win against Queen Bees.

Bees were unbeaten heading into the fixture and topped the table having played two games more than Vixens this season.

However, Solihull took an early lead when Jodie Alderson-Smith found the net before Bees scored a controversial leveller at the end of the first period despite the referee apologising for his error.

Vixens pulled clear in the second period as Saffron Allen netted at 31.41 before Katie Henry extended the visitors lead at 37.10 to end the period with a two-goal advantage.

And Solihull soaked up relentless pressure from Bees in the third period before the home side eventually found a way through at 52.47 to set up an exciting finale.

However, Vixens settled the game when Henry fired the puck into an empty net at 59.52 after Bees pulled their netminder in search of a late equaliser.

Solihull are next in action away at Streatham on Saturday, November 26 with the face-off at 6.45pm at Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre.
