ICE HOCKEY - Vixens crowned Elite League champions

Solihull Editorial 13th Apr, 2023   0

SOLIHULL Vixens have been crowned Women’s National Ice Hockey Elite League champions for the third time after they eased to a 6-0 win against Bristol Huskies.

Vixens clinched the title with four games left to play to book their place in the end of season play-offs which take place at the end of May.

The Solihull club needed just a single point from the fixture to clinch back-to-back titles and took the lead on seven minutes through Jodie Alderson-Smith.

And Anna Badoui’s 19th minute strike doubled Vixens lead before the end of the first period.

Solihull extended their advantage in the second period as Grace Garbett and Paige Dance both struck in the space of two minutes to take the game out of Bristol’s reach.

The home side completed the rout with goals from Alderson-Smith and former Bristol player Ila Hobbins in the third period to seal a 6-0 win at Planet Ice Solihull.

Vixens are next in action away at Streatham on Sunday, April 30.
