SOLIHULL Vixens moved one victory away from the Women’s National Ice Hockey League Elite Division title after a 5-3 win against closest challengers Queen Bees.

Grace Garbett and Jodie Alderson-Smith both scored twice whilst Paige Dance also found the net as Vixens claimed a crucial victory at Planet Ice Solihull.

The result means Solihull lead the Bees by nine points at the top of the table having won 14 of their 15 matches this season.

Vixens made a fast start and blew the Bees away in the first period as Garbett, Alderson-Smith and Dance all struck in the opening 15 minutes before the visitors pulled a goal back.

And Bees reduced the deficit further at the start of the second period only for Garbett to restore Solihull’s two-goal cushion.

Alderson-Smith sealed the win with her second of the game in the third period before Bees netted a late consolation on the powerplay in the final minute.

Vixens are next in action at home to Bristol Huskies on Saturday, April 8 with the face-off at 6.25pm at Planet Ice Solihull.
