AMY Trueman looks destined to have a bright future on the ice after being selected for England’s Under-16s ice hockey squad.

The 15-year-old, from Olton, has been selected for a training camp in Finland in August as England U16s prepare for a series of challenge matches.

Trueman is currently the only girl player for the Solihull Barons’ mixed under-16 side and has been playing the sport of over three years.

She impressed the England management team at trials and is looking forward to getting a taste of life on the international stage for her country.

“She’s worked really hard and we’re delighted that she’s got the call-up,” said proud dad Lee, who is also a coach at Solihull Barons.

“The dream is to represent Team GB one day – that’s the next step. And she’d also like to play professionally in Canada.”

Solihull Barons are always on the lookout for new players and are setting up a new Under-20 team for the next season.
