HIGHGATE United booked their place in the next round of the Worcestershire Senior Urn with a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Lye Town on Tuesday night.
A George Curry penalty fired Gate ahead in the 28th minute before Lye equalised eight minutes into the second half.
With no extra-time, the game went straight to penalties.
Curry, Kurtis Revan, Nick Seabourne, Marco Adaggio and James Wilcock all netted from the spot to ensure Gate prevailed.
Keeper Bradley Catlow also crucially saved Lye’s second spot-kick.
Victory in the county cup followed Saturday’s crushing 4-0 defeat at Quorn in the Midland League Premier Division.
Ashley Pulisciano’s Gate will hope to get back to winning ways in the league this Saturday when they welcome Coventry United to the Coppice Ground.
