SAM Easterbrook, who plays out of Olton Golf Club in Solihull, helped England’s boys’ team win bronze at the European Team Championship in Geneva, Switzerland.

Easterbrook saw off Philipp Macionga in his match with a three and two victory as England beat Germany 5.5-1.5 to claim bronze in the third/fourth place play-off.

England lost to Germany in last year’s European Team Championship final and were out for revenge as Hugh Adams and Harry Malin began the day in style.

The pair secured a commanding seven and six victory in the second of the morning foursomes before Kris Kim and Tyler Weaver doubled England’s lead thanks to a nerve-shredding 20th-hole win.

Weaver capped off a memorable individual week with a stunning eight and seven success against Nils-Levi Bock in the first of the afternoon singles.

England needed one more solitary point to claim third place and duly delivered as Kim beat Nico Kregler two and one before Easterbrook beat Philipp Macionga three and two.
