THE OUTLOOK for Highgate United’s season ahead has become much clearer, following the following the release of the MFL Premier Division fixtures and draws for the FA Cup and FA Vase.

Romulus will visit The Coppice to kick off the season on Saturday August 3, before the first away trip of the campaign to Nottinghamshire side Selston on Tuesday August 6.

Gate visit Racing Club Warwick on Boxing Day, while an away trip to Haughmond in Shropshire rounds off the season on Saturday April 25 2020.

In the FA Cup extra preliminary round, Dodd is set for a return to his former club Lichfield City when visiting the MFL Division One side on Saturday August 10, with the reward being a home fixture against either Haughmond or Walsall Wood.

Gate will host Ellistown of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division in the FA Vase first qualifying round on Saturday August 31, with a trip to Wellington or Worcester City to follow for the winner.

Meanwhile, the club have bolstered their ranks with the signing of former Bromsgrove Sporting and Studley defender Daniel Morris.

The full-back’s acquisition left manager Russell Dodd beaming, who lauded the experience that his new man can bring to the side.

Morris’ signing continues a positive trend for the club’s pre-season preparations, following warm-up wins against Knowle, Alcester Town and Barnt Green Spartak, while the Gate only narrowly lost out 2-1 on Saturday against Southern League Premier Division Central opposition in Rushall Olympic.

An update on the condition of James Wilcock has provided Dodd with further reason to smile, with the winger scheduled to return to full fitness in mid-September following long-term ankle ligament damage.
