FOOTBALL - Taylor scores twice as Knowle win at Lane Head

OWAIN Taylor scored two first-half goals as Knowle eased to a 3-0 win at Lane Head to secure their first away win of the season.

Taylor struck either side of Nathan Corry’s goal midway through the first half as the Robins won their opening away game of the campaign at Bloxwich United’s ground.

The result means Knowle sit fifth in the Midland Football League Division Two table after three matches.

And the Robins made the perfect start when Taylor smashed home at the back post after just three minutes from Jay Rendell’s cross following good work by Dylon Bennett, George Seeley and Corry.

The visitors doubled their lead on 21 minutes as Corry bundled the ball home before Taylor scored his second of the game just before half time.

Rendell burst down the wing before delivering a cross for Taylor who provided the finish in a carbon copy of Knowle’s opening goal.

The Robins were denied a fourth goal by the fingertips of the Lane Head goalkeeper as he spectacularly tipped Seeley’s free-kick over the bar with the ball destined for the top corner.

Knowle are next in action at home to Birmingham United on Saturday, August 19 with kick-off at 3pm at The Draintech Community Ground.
