FOOTBALL - Substitutes help Moors to FA Trophy win against Telford

SOLIHULL Moors scored two second-half goals to beat National League North side AFC Telford United 2-0 and advance to the fourth round of the FA Trophy.

Joe Sbarra and Ryan Barnett came off the bench to score two goals in the space of nine minutes and secure Moors’ place in the next round at the ARMCO Arena.

Moors will play fellow National League side Barnet at home in the fourth round with the tie to be played on Saturday, January 14 with kick-off at 3pm.

Both teams observed an immaculate minute’s silence prior to kick-off in memory of the four boys who tragically died at Babbs Mill Lake last week.

Moors eventually made the breakthrough on 67 minutes when Sbarra made an immediate impact from the bench as he produced a delightful dink over the goalkeeper having been slipped through.

And the home side doubled their lead on 76 minutes when fellow substitute Barnett slammed the ball into the roof of the net to finish off a lovely team move.

Solihull are next in action away at Wrexham on Boxing Day (Monday, December 26) with kick-off at 3pm at the Racecourse Ground.
