JACK Stevens scored a brace as Solihull Moors claimed an impressive come-from-behind 3-2 win away at Gateshead.

Stevens put Moors ahead on the half-hour mark before scoring a penalty in the second half after Tahvon Campbell cancelled out Ben Worman’s early opener at Gateshead International Stadium.

And the result means Solihull remain fourth in the National League table, six points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

Moors made the worst possible start when Gateshead midfielder Worman smashed the ball home on three minutes after Kain Adom saw his initial cross blocked.

However, after James Clarke made a crucial goalline clearance, Moors drew level on 22 minutes as Campbell raced in-behind the Gateshead defence before finishing at the near post.

And Solihull completed the turnaround on 30 minutes when Stevens placed a shot into the right corner of the goal after a neat exchange with Joe Newton down the left-hand side.

Moors won a penalty on 55 minutes after Tyrese Shade drew a foul in the box and Stevens sent James Montgomery the wrong way from the spot, sending the ball to the keeper’s left.

Nick Hayes made a couple of crucial saves to keep Moors two-goal lead intact before Gateshead reduced the deficit on 86 minutes as substitute Dajaune Brown looped a shot over the Solihull goalkeeper.

Moors almost added a fourth goal late on when Montgomery tipped Joe Sbarra’s shot onto the post after the midfielder intercepted a loose pass.

Solihull are next in action away at Wealdstone on Saturday, March 9 in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy with kick-off at 3pm at Grosvenor Vale.
