DARIUS Lipsiuc scored a brace as Solihull Moors romped to a 4-1 victory against play-off bound Boreham Wood on Easter Monday.

Lipsiuc struck either side of half time after Lewis Baines scored his first Moors goal to put the home side ahead at Damson Park.

And Joe Sbarra put Moors into a four-goal lead before Josh Landers scored a late consolation for the high-flying visitors.

That came after Tamworth’s Dan Creaney came back to haunt Solihull on Good Friday as the striker scored the game’s only goal at the Lamb Ground.

The results mean Moors sit 13th in the National League table with four matches left to play.

Moors hosted fourth-placed Wood on Easter Monday as club legend James Clarke made his first return to Damson Park since departing the club last month.

And the two teams shared a minute’s applause on 18 minutes in memory of Moors and Birmingham City supporter Paul Pike who died recently.

Solihull broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Baines nodded in Ben Worman’s corner from the right from close range.

Moors doubled their lead on 36 minutes as Lipsiuc looped a header into the bottom left corner from another Worman cross.

The home side all but sealed the points three minutes after the break when Lipsiuc showed great composure to slide a first time shot past Ted Curd from Callum McFarlane’s through ball.

And Moors made it four six minutes later as Sbarra pounced on a long ball in behind the Wood defence and reversed a shot into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The visitors scored a consolation goal nine minutes from time when Landers fired a low effort beyond Laurie Walker following a scramble in the box.

That came after Moors slipped to a narrow defeat at Tamworth on Good Friday as former Solihull striker Creaney came back to haunt his old side.

Creaney rejoined the Lambs from Moors in January and scored the winner on 56 minutes with a header from eight-yards out after Solihull lost the ball inside their own penalty area.

Solihull are next in action against Southend United on Saturday, April 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Roots Hall.
