SOLIHULL Moors slipped to a 4-2 home defeat against Southend United as the hosts shipped four goals in a game for the first time this season.
Moors fell behind to Keenan Appiah-Forson’s strike before Aribim Pepple doubled the away side’s lead as Sam Bowen reduced the deficit with his first Solihull goal.
However, Gus Scott-Morriss restored Southend’s two-goal lead before Pepple completed the scoring after Jack Stevens’ penalty kept Moors in the game at Damson Park.
The result means Solihull sit 11th in the National League table, three points outside the play-off places.
Southend broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when Appiah-Forson brought down a long ball into the box before finding the bottom left corner.
And the visitors doubled their lead on 27 minutes as Pepple turned his man before firing a low effort into the bottom left corner from 20-yards out.
Moors halved the deficit four minutes before the break as Oliver Tipton delivered a low cross from the right which Conor Wilkinson set back to Bowen who picked out the bottom left corner with a first time effort.
However, Southend stretched their lead on 56 minutes when Scott-Morriss drove into the box and saw his shot deflect past a wrong-footed Laurie Walker.
Moors received a lifeline on 67 minutes when Stevens drew a foul from Harry Taylor in the box and the referee awarded a penalty.
Stevens picked himself up to send Colin Cristin Andeng-Ndi the wrong way from the penalty spot as coolly rolled the ball to the goalkeeper’s right.
However, the visitors restored their two-goal cushion just a couple of minutes later as Pepple scored his second of the game from close range after Macauley Bonne flicked on a corner from the right at the near post.
Solihull are next in action against York City on Tuesday, September 24 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Damson Park.
