SOLIHULL Moors have announced the signing of creative midfielder Jon Benton from National League South side Aveley.
Benton arrives on a one-and-a-half-year deal with the option of an extra year having helped Aveley into the play-off places in the early stages of the season.
The midfielder previously played for Braintree and Southend United before helping Aveley to promotion from the Isthmian North in the 2021/22 season, scoring 16 goals and assisting 15 in 26 appearances.
Benton said: “I’m very excited to be here, it’s a great club and I’m excited to crack on do well.
“I’m an attacking midfielder, very technical and I like to get on the ball and create chances and make stuff happen.
“He’s very welcoming [Andy Whing], I’ve just walked in here and I don’t know anyone but I’ve come in and felt welcomed from minute one.”
Benton left Southend in the summer before joining Aveley on a permanent basis and has scored three goals in 11 games for the Millers this term.
The youngster scored an injury time equaliser as nine-man Aveley secured an FA Cup replay against Barnet last weekend.
Benton is available for selection as Moors head to the midfielder’s former club Southend this weekend and will wear the number 18 shirt for the remainder of the campaign.
