SOLIHULL Moors have signed experienced defender Jordan Tunnicliffe ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season this weekend.

The 30-year-old won back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One with Wrexham before departing the Welsh side at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

He has signed a one-year deal with Moors and is aiming for another promotion to the Football League with Solihull.

Tunnicliffe said: “I’ve got promoted from this league before and I want to try and do it again.

“It’s a really tough league to get out of, I know what it takes now and what the changing room has to do and we’ve got to drive those high standards.”

Moors head coach, Andy Whing, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to sign Jordan and we’re really looking forward to working with him.

“He’s been promoted out of this league and has played higher which is really important and what we’ve looked for this summer going in to another tough campaign.

“I think with how well we did last season, the calibre of player like Jordan are wanting to come here and keep pushing the club forward.”

Tunnicliffe made 32 league appearances for Wrexham during his two seasons with the club.

Prior to his move to Wales, Tunnicliffe spent three seasons with Crawley Town in League Two having previously played for AFC Fylde and Kidderminster Harriers in non-league.

Moors also confirmed the season-long loan signing of Jacob Pinnington from Luton Town following an impressive trial period.

The 19-year-old featured for Moors throughout pre-season and impressed Moors boss Whing with his performances.

He helped AFC Sudbury avoid relegation from the Southern League Premier Central on the final day of the 2023/24 season while on loan with the Suffolk-based side last term.

Pinnington said: “I’m buzzing – I came in last week and played a few games with the lads, the group are class and I just want to play as many games as possible and do my best for the team.

“Hopefully we can push for promotion and the ambitions that the club are striving towards, I want to do my best in terms of helping the team get there.”

Whing added: “Wardy [Stephen Ward] has a good connection with their manager – we had him in for a couple of weeks. He’s a fantastic lad who wants to learn and improve, he’s done really well for us.”

The club have also confirmed striker Mark Beck has joined National League rivals Gateshead on loan until January.

Beck scored 10 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Moors last season including in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

And midfielder Gus Mafuta has joined National League South side Boreham Wood on a season-long loan.

The combative midfielder made 35 appearances for the club in all competitions last season scoring one goal.

Youngster Max Martin has also left Moors on loan to join Southern League Premier Central side Redditch United until January.

Martin links up with former Moors boss Tim Flowers at Redditch having featured several times for Solihull during pre-season.

The 19-year -old can play in defence and midfield and featured in the club’s run to the FA Trophy final last season.
