FOOTBALL - Solihull Moors lose at Sutton to suffer back-to-back defeats

ANDY Whing insists Solihull Moors must ‘start winning games of football’ following a frustrating 1-0 defeat away at Sutton United.

Moors suffered back-to-back league defeats for just the second time this season as Jack Wadham’s early goal proved decisive at Gander Green Lane.

And with Moors ninth in the National League table, Whing admits his side need to start picking up points to finish in the play-off places ahead of a huge FA Cup second round tie against Bromley this weekend.

Whing said: “We were pretty good in spells without creating clear-cut chances. We had a lot of ball in the final third.

“A mistake again for their goal, they’re clinging on, they changed shape, they couldn’t live with us in the second half.

“We’ve scored 12 goals in the last three games but we were pretty toothless in front of goal.

“We talked a lot about defending and we were outstanding, we limited them to barely nothing.

“We’ve got to manage the game better when we’re winning and when we’re losing.

“We huffed and puffed without having the right quality in the final third, we’ve got to start winning games of football.

“We know we’ve got to win football matches, we need to start picking up points if we want to get into the play-offs.

“It’s a massive game for the football club [against Bromley], we’ve got a two-week break now from the league, I don’t know if that’s a good thing.

“We’re looking forward to it, we need to come out all guns blazing and hopefully get the win.”

The game’s only goal came on 14 minutes as Ashley Nadesan outmuscled Joe Newton and pulled the ball back to Wadham who guided a first time shot into the net from 10-yards out.

Solihull are next in action against Bromley in the FA Cup on Sunday, December 1 with kick-off at 3.15pm at Damson Park.
