JOSH Kelly’s ninth goal of the season helped Solihull Moors to an impressive come-from-behind 2-1 victory away at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Kelly scored the winner early in the second half after Jay Benn equalised in first-half injury time to cancel out Tom Eastman’s opener at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

And the result means Moors sit third in the National League table, 10 points behind leaders Chesterfield who have a game in-hand.

Moors suffered a blow the night before the game with on-loan goalkeeper Tommy Simkin recalled by his parent club Stoke City.

That meant Solihull handed a debut to young keeper Aaron Flahavan with the Moors stopper denying Daggers striker Inih Effiong a chance on goal in the opening minute of the game.

The visitors saw two chances come and go for Matty Warburton before Effiong miscued a free header into the arms of Flahavan at the other end.

And Dagenham came within inches of breaking the deadlock soon after as Freddie Sears fired a shot against the underside of the bar as Moors scrambled to keep the ball out.

However, the home side eventually took the lead on 44 minutes when Eastman headed in Josh Hare’s corner from the left at the back post from close range.

Moors equalised just two minutes later when Kelly’s ball from the left ran through to Benn who lashed a stunning first time strike into the top-left corner of the goal with the outside of his boot.

And Solihull completed the turnaround four minutes into the second period as Kelly curled a sublime shot into the top-right corner from just inside the penalty area.

The visitors went close to extending their lead only for Kelly’s shot to be kept out by Elliot Justham low down to the keeper’s left.

Dagenham almost equalised as the half wore on with Hare hitting the underside of the crossbar before Sears also struck the woodwork.

And Gus Mafuta then cleared Effiong’s effort off the line as Moors held on to secure back-to-back wins in the league.

Solihull are next in action at home to Maidenhead United on Saturday, November 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the ARMCO Arena.
