RICHARD Stearman saw red as Solihull Moors conceded late on to draw 1-1 away at play-off rivals Aldershot Town.

Moors were on course for all three points after Tahvon Campbell continued his fine scoring streak to break the deadlock on 73 minutes at the EBB Stadium.

However, Stearman saw red for a push on Lorent Tolaj with the Shots striker through on goal and Cian Harries scored the resulting penalty with one minute of regulation time left to play.

And the result means Moors sit fourth in the National League table, five points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

Aldershot wasted a couple of early chances as Tolaj fired wide from the edge of the penalty area before Nick Hayes tipped Theo Widdrington’s shot around the post.

At the other end, Aldershot goalkeeper Jordi van Stappershoef kept out Joss Labadie’s driven shot as the home side scrambled the ball to safety.

After the break, Tyrese Shade saw his powerful shot deflect onto the post before Josh Stokes fired narrowly wide at the other end.

And Shade hit the post for a second time later in the half as his effort struck the inside of the post and rolled agonisingly wide of the target.

However, the visitors eventually took the lead on 72 minutes when Campbell finished into the roof of the net from close range after James Clarke flicked on a corner from the right at the near post.

And after Moors survived a goalmouth scramble, Tolaj raced onto a long ball from van Stappershoef in behind the Moors defence and went down in the box under a challenge from Stearman.

Stearman saw red for denying a goalscoring opportunity as Harries coolly sent the Hayes the wrong way to deny Moors all three points.

Solihull are next in action at home to Southend United on Tuesday, March 26 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the ARMCO Arena.
